Get English Sources NetBeans is providing a tarball which contains English files as l10n-kit. NetBeans 5.0 l10n-kit can be downloaded from

When you want to use the entire IDE sources because you want to build the IDE on your own, you can download the 5.0 sources from here:

If you use OmegaT for translation, you can download zip files of the OmegaT project folder with the English sources. It's the easiest way for you to start translating!!
Download the zip file, extract it, open the folder in OmegaT. See How to translate Netbeans IDE using OmegaT doc in the section below for detailed steps.

If you don't use OmegaT, here are the zip files of the English sources:
You can download and extract them onto your local disk and start translating in your own way.
Translate English Sources Please refer to these documents. The procedure depends on what translation tools you use.
Verify Translated files If you can build the NetBeans IDE, try to check the following documents and verify your translated files are OK on NetBeans.
Please verify your translated files are Unicode ASCII encoded. If you use OmegaT, this will be done automatically when the target file is generated.
If you don't know about the encoding, we can help!! Please send your files to our team alias - dev@translatedfiles.netbeans.org, someone can help.
Commit your files to cvs
Copy your translated files into the src/ directory and commit them. Please use the appropriate branch for check-in. For example for NetBeans 5.0, we should use the "release50" branch.
  • You can send a notification to cvs@translatedfiles.netbeans.org, check mail archive.
  • You can verify your committed files on the web
Please send your files in zip format to team alias - dev@translatedfiles.netbeans.org, someone can help and check them in for you.
Try daily build Daily builds are being built every Monday and Thursday. These will be published to NetBeans.org download page. Please notes the build will contain the changes that have been committed before 20:00 of the previous day.

Please send you questions to dev@translatedfiles.netbeans.org.
